This piece — and indeed my whole Jeremiad series — is licensed by Medium. They edit it and, on this occasion, pick the title, even in the face of my quiet protestations! I’m not a fan of it, because it suggests that what I’ve written is an injunction to liberals, when in fact I merely intended to pose a question.
